Mauritania

Several months ago we heard about increased persecution in Mauritania. Our leader there, Ankor, asked if someone could come. We asked the Lord to show us a way of encouraging them. Kirsti Bexrud was immediately ready saying: “Our brothers and sisters in danger need me. I will go.

Kirsti Bexrud
It took her just a few days to organise her fight and visa (this was truly an answer to prayer since a visa to Mauritania is usually very hard to obtain). When she returned, she wrote the following in her report:

« Fear is an underlying feeling throughout the country. People mistrust each other. They are afraid of being open, and they watch and wait for everything and everyone around them. Fear has almost taken over completely. This meant that it was an extra encouragement for them that I dared to come. And even more so the fact that I dared to travel alone as a woman!”

For these persecuted believers, a handshake or a gift from Norway means an enormous amount. They know then that they have not been forgotten. A visit from Norway from someone who cares means even more. Several times after Kirsti’s visit to Mauritania, I have received messages saying how much this has meant for them and that they would love to see her again.

Ask the Lord how you can be a blessing for some of the suffering believers in Niger, Nigeria, Mauritania or Mali. Or maybe you should start here at home – or why not both? The Lord wants to use you! He wants to bless you and make you into a channel of blessing for others.
